Check out the Simplify Your Work microsite for Office: Mac 2008. It’s a great example of using illustration and simple animation to form an emotional connection with a brand. Imagine how the experience would be different if they used stock photography of office workers “cheerfully” using the product.
One thing the Zune does have going for it is a beautiful marketing campaign. Check out this video, and this website.
I’m pretty much over large corporations leveraging the underground art community to appeal to the skinny-jeaned youth, but they have just been doing such a darn good job of it that I can’t help but like it. Does anyone know who their ad agency is? I want in on the action.
guess what everyone, if you haven’t heard, i have a new favorite social network. this is the first event site that i think is great, totally successful, and attracting the right kind of people. be sure to check out the thumbnail rollovers!! maybe we should go back and change the way LK’s rollover’s are revealed…

Saw K’s nice post on that animated video, which reminded me about this little nugget I animated back in ‘02 for the Get Up Kids using Travis Millard’s illustrations.

We cranked this out in 2 weeks, which literally meant not sleeping for days at a time. I was hallucinating by the end of it, but I don’t think it turned out so bad for my first attempt at character-driven animation. Oh yeah, this was also my first ever green screen shoot! Oh the memories…
Onesize was contacted by G4 to pitch an overall design idea based on the viewer demographic. Based on their years of experience in the industry, Onesize decided to team up with their yU+Co, to take on this massive task.
The studios responded with a visual style with a high level of customization, creating a toolkit of 300+ seperate animations and an array of contemporary audiofiles. The animations consist of 3d-images, both photoreal and abstract—and combining these elements results in a constant visual style. Depending on the used photoreal animation, it covers different themes/ programs. It never has to look the same twice, but the overall look and feel is the same.
Typographics is a nice little motion grafx movie about typography from the Vancouver Film school by Boca and Ryan Uhrich.
A must see.
Ever wondered how we can incorporate the super rad illustrated stylings of our friends Travis, Mel and Kiel into our websites?
If so, then check out this fun site for the MOTOROKR Z6 phone, done by the Beijing office of Ogilvy along with James Paterson. Oh yeah, it also incorporates some nice 3d renderings of the phone, tight animation, and decent audio.
